Indefensible Positions

Here it is, the first comic.

First, the technical stuff. I do this on a Wacom tablet, in Photoshop and Illustrator. No pencils, no pens, no paper, no scanning. The thing is, I'm pretty good with these tools...but I'm also very slow. As my skills and speed improve the detail will improve. The color scheme is intentional; color means something. You'll figure out what, as you read.

This comic will contain magic, wars between gods, superheroes, sexual deviants, gutter philosophy, and a talking animal or two. I intend to keep it PG-13 rated, in both text and graphics. Not that children should be allowed to read it; the circular philosophical rationalizations alone may screw them up for life. Fair warning.

The story is written as a graphic novel, and has a distinct end. I'm planning it to last about a year...maybe two. After that I'll decide what to do next.

The title -- Indefensible Positions -- is a warning of exactly what you're going to find. The characters are going to explore things that can't be proven, have opinions that can't be justified, and do things that can't be defended. Dear Reader, I will anger, confuse, or disgust you eventually. Just don't assume that because a character forms an opinion that it's one I share. I'd rather not get too much hate mail.

For now, I need to introduce the story and characters. So I hope you enjoy the show.

Indefensible Positions -- Chapter 1, Introduction.
Shamanism
"Freedom is existence, and in it existence precedes essence. There is no predetermined nature that controls what we are or what we do -- only our actions define us..."
"To become a shaman, it is not enough to follow the path less travelled, or even the path least travelled. The shaman must follow the path that has never been travelled before..."
"...for each man's journey is unique to him, and uniquely his."
"When the universe opens a rabbit hole for us, it is an invitation to align ourselves with the universe. Our free choice is the catalyst for that alignment."
"Accept it and let the universe guide you...or deny it and remain mundane."
Foil: Well, when you put it that way...going to college doesn't sound like such a good idea after all.
